Welcome Back To LOTA from Curt Bassett, President
|
|
Welcome back! We had a great year in 2007 and we have a dedicated team of volunteers all determined to do even better this year. Our new By-Laws commit us to create, develop, maintain and promote tennis within the Lake Oconee area and we are fortunate to have an abundance of courts, facilities, and supportive communities. Tennis provides healthy exercise and recreation to persons of all ages and a wide range of skills. Our team of volunteers work very hard at providing a wonderful tennis opportunity for each of you. I hope you will share your ideas for improvement and take the time to thank our volunteers for all they do. Finally, I want to thank our sponsors: Franks Chiropractic Life Center; Dalton Carpet One; Lake Oconee Brokers, Inc; Keystone Builders; Stathas Life Development Center; and Filet Steak and Seafood. They are all top quality. Try them yourself and tell them you appreciate their support. I will look forward to seeing you on the courts. You can contact me at: curtkaren@plantationcable.net |

Mixed Doubles:Lynn Artz, Director LOTA Mixed Doubles League includes two seasons, one in the spring and a second in the fall. Spring season begins in March and ends in May with all matches played on Sunday afternoons at 2:00 and 4:00. Play consists of partnerships of all levels matched against partnerships of equal ability (if possible) in a best of three-set match. If you do not have a partner, sign up and we'll try to find someone of equal ability for you. Most of the matches are played at the Reynolds Lake Club. In order for schedules to be sent out by e-mail on Friday, your availability for Sunday is requested by the previous Thursday. There will be no make-up matches scheduled for any reason. The main emphasis is to have fun playing competitive tennis and socializing on Sunday afternoons. We may even have a surprise event or two this year. So join now, find a partner and sign up to participate with a great group of people and a fun season of tennis. Please contact me at: Email: lmartz@plantationcable.net or by phone at (706) 453-9070. See you on the courts! |

Ladies' League:
Cindy Toledo, Director Fall is in the air, and it's that time again. The Ladies Fall LOTA season kicks off September 20 with a Round Robin event tentatively scheduled at the Lake Club at Reynolds Plantation. The season lasts eight weeks and matches are played on Saturday mornings. All levels of ability are welcome and every attempt is made to provide matches for you against players as close to your level as possible. If you would like to be a part of this fun and competitive group, please sign up online. Click the link "League Signup" underneath Important Information above. If you played in the spring and paid your dues, you are covered for the fall season as well. Otherwise, please mail your check which covers ladies, mens, and mixed doubles league play as well as all LOTA social events throughout the remainder of this year. After you have signed up, you will receive an email from me, your Ladies League director, summarizing general information about the season including times, locations and directions. After the captains meet to form teams, you will be contacted by your captain and she will provide you with a roster of your teammates, a schedule of matches, and inquire as to your availability for the season. LOTA is fun, good exercise, and a great way to make new friends at Lake Oconee! So sign up today! If you have questions or need more information or know someone who might be interested in joining, please call me at 706-485-1220 or email: CindyCToledo@gmail.com |

Men's League:
Sloan Gill, Director Thank you for taking the time to review our site. I'm sure that you will be pleased with what we have to offer. We have 2 seasons that run in the Spring from March to May and in the Fall from September to November. The play consists of ALTA-like team competition including players from Greensboro, Eatonton, Milledgeville, Madison, and other communities. We play matches at Reynolds Plantation, Reynolds Landing, and Granite Cove. There are also many informal groups. Check the Volunteer List for Captains and Informal Groups for more information. If you would like to play in either league, you can become a member or renew your membership by clicking on the links above. A one year membership only costs $15 and the benefits are well worth it. Besides the great tennis and the great people you will meet, the social activities and other enjoyable tennis events are fantastic. Your membership also allows you to play in the very popular Mixed Doubles League that plays on Sunday afternoon. The LOTA Men include players of all abilities from beginner to advanced so don't be reluctant to come out and play, there's something for everyone. This is a FUN organization and we promote good tennis and great times. JOIN L.O.T.A. TODAY! If you have any questions about LOTA or tennis in general, please contact me: Sloan Gill Email: lota2007@hotmail.com Phone: 706-474-6361 Hope to see you on the courts this season. |

LOTA and the Community What does LOTA do for the community? We are glad you asked. For years, LOTA has been giving $100 and $200 grants to improve facilities at various tennis courts. Included in this list is Harbor Club, Sebastian Cove, Granite Cove, Reynolds Plantation, Milledgeville, and Madison. In the past (and hopefully in the future), LOTA has worked with the Greensboro Dreamers helping with their summer classes. We are also looking to restart our Juniors program. If you are interested in helping LOTA with any community programs or think that LOTA should be involved with new programs, please contact a board member. |
